Remote access
The Studio runs on the vision controller, but you do not have to sit in front of it. You can work with the Studio from another computer in three ways: in a web browser, over VNC or with TeamViewer. This page compares them and shows how to connect. It applies to both Bin Picking Studio (BPS) and Locator Studio (LS).
How the three methods reach the vision controller.

Before you start
Network port – Connect the vision controller to your network or computer through the port labelled Network, and set it up in the Network interface block of the Network page. See Network interface.
Static IP address – For VNC and TeamViewer over the LAN, use a static IP address on the Network interface, so the vision controller is always reachable at the same address. If you use a DHCP server, ask for a DHCP reservation. See Automatic.
Dummy display plug – To work with the Studio remotely without a monitor connected to the vision controller, you must plug a dummy plug for display emulation into the vision controller.
Web browser
The Studio is a web application. On the vision controller it runs in the pre-installed Google Chrome at localhost (127.0.0.1). From another computer on the same network, you can open it in a web browser.
In the web browser you see only the Studio. PhoXi Control and the operating system of the vision controller are not available; use VNC or TeamViewer for them.
To connect:
Open a web browser on your computer.
Type the IP address of the vision controller (the address of the Network interface on the Network page) in the address bar, for example
http://192.168.0.10/.Log in with your Email and Password.
The login page of the Studio in a web browser on another computer. Red frames: Email, Password and Login.
Browsers: Google Chrome is recommended. Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge should also work, but they are not tested.
VNC
VNC (Virtual Network Computing) shares the screen of one computer with another over the network. You see the desktop of the vision controller and control it with your mouse and keyboard, as if you were sitting in front of it. Several VNC clients can be connected at the same time.
The vision controller runs the VNC server. It starts automatically when the vision controller starts. On your computer you need a VNC client (viewer).
Recommended VNC clients:
To connect:
Start the VNC client on your computer.
Enter the IP address of the vision controller (the address of the Network interface). If the client asks for a port, use 5900.
Enter the VNC password. You can get it from Photoneo support (support@photoneo.com).
TeamViewer
TeamViewer is remote control software. Like VNC, it shows the whole desktop of the vision controller. In addition, it can connect over the Internet. Photoneo technicians use it for remote support.
TeamViewer starts automatically when the vision controller starts. A system service also restarts it if it stops unexpectedly. To turn the service off, run the Stop TeamViewer command, which you find among the applications in the bottom left corner of the desktop.
To connect, install TeamViewer on your computer too. Then:
